USED CHOIR MEMBERS NEEDED

Each Sunday there are many slightly used choir members parked in the congregation lot who have plenty of mileage left in them.

Most of those models need only minor tune-ups which the Master Mechanic will glady do free of charge.

It would only take about ten gallons of High Test dedication to put these models on the Choir Loft Expressway.

So fill up at the next rehearsal (7:30 p.m. on Wednesday) with a tune in your tank.

We are anxiously awaiting you and your talents in choir!

Merry Autumn Days

by Chares Dickens

‘Tis pleasant on a fine spring morn,
To see the buds expand,
‘Tis pleasant in the summer time,
To see the fruitful land;
‘Tis pleasant on a winter’s night,
To sit around the blaze;---
But what are joys like these, my boys,
To merry autumn days?
We hail the merry Autumn days,
When leaves are turning red;
Because they’re far more beautiful,
Than anyone has said;
We hail the merry harvest time,
The gayest of the year;
The time of rich and bounteous crops,
Rejoicing and good cheer.

The Women's Retreat was great! Cathy Lee Phillips was our speaker. She's a hoot! She talked about finding the silver in the slop which is the title of one of her books: Silver In The Slop & Other Surprises: How God Puts the 'Extra' in the 'Ordinary'.

I'm a bit tired, so I may write more about the retreat at another time. I didn't sleep the greatest at "The Lodge" or "The Inn" or whatever-you-call-it. (I'm not sure of the official name of the place where we stayed at Fall Creek Falls.)

Women's Fall Retreat

Today's the day for the Women's Retreat at Fall Creek Falls. I plan to go and ride the church van. There are two vans going. As I understand it, one plans to leave the church around 3 p.m. The other plans to leave around 4 p.m.

I think we'll eat supper somewhere along the way. Then, the "conference" starts at 7 p.m. ...if I'm not mistaken. There's a session tonight and one or two tomorrow morning. Then, we leave to come home right around lunch time.

Saturday, September 15, 2007

I can't believe it's already the 15th of September! It'll be October before we know it!

If you visit this site, please "tag" me (in the box in the left-hand column), leave a comment, and/or e-mail me to let me know. Thank you!

Update: June 7, 2008 - I no longer have a "tag" box.

I'm the Preschool Director for our Wednesday night activities... which means I help the ABC Club teachers for 3, 4, and 5 year olds. Actually, there may be a few 6 year olds in the group, too. I'm not sure when the "cut-off" date is, but our church starts "grouping" children according to their birthdate once they reach age two.

For example... the current "4 year old class" has children born in October 2002 and in August 2003. At age four, the "gap" is not as noticeable as it is at age two.

A child born in October 2004 (who will soon be three) is usually more developed in his/her fine motor skills (such as drawing, writing, cutting with scissors, etc.) and gross motor skills (such as jumping, skipping, hopping, etc.) as well as in his/her social skills (such as communicating, "separation anxiety," and even toilet training) than a child born in August 2005 (who recently turned two).

An Introduction

I'm simply looking for a way to have some kind of info on the 'net about our home church, Hixson First Baptist. I'm a layperson... meaning, I'm not on staff and I've not been asked to do this. I simply want to try and communicate some of the things going on in our church since there is no official website for our church.

The women's ministry has a website: Women of Worth

If you would like something added to this website, please let me know! I will be happy to consider any appropriate suggestions.
